A Fashion Fiend // My Woman from Tokyo

TGIF everyone, made it through another week of crazy events and trunk shows! Wore this little number to a boutique party and it was literally the talk of the evening. This dress is so damn chic, I instantly fell in love. I paired it with my my Michael KORS Hamilton, which was perfect because my camera fit in it when I needed to be hands free! No one can tell me not to wear white after Labor Day! Have a great weekend.

From Day to Night

I’ve been living in these boots for the last two weekends and I have to share how much I love them. Boots are definitely a favorite of mine and I was lucky enough to get to style two looks for shoe company, DUO. I have really slim calves and I am constantly missing out on knee high boots because the “average” calf size is too big for me. This company shows you how to measure your feet and calves for precise fit and comfort, so each pair is custom fit for you. This makes for a more polished look whether you’re wearing them in the office or for a night out on the town. The style of these boots is so versatile and the comfort will have you wearing them from day and night.

Project Ethos

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Saturday marked another amazing spring Fashion show. This time held at my favorite hotel in Scottsdale, The W, and it was the most fashionable backdrop for Project Ethos this year. Project Ethos is a fashion, music, and art event held once a year, bringing together talented artists and designers. Quite a few local brands represented at the show and Phoenix based SouTheory performed after a meet and great at the Living Room. The event was held on the Wet Deck and we mingled with the most fashionable of Az. Stay tuned for this weekend’s Eat, Drink and Be Pretty event during the Scottsdale Culinary Festival.

We quickly caught up with Joanna de’Shay of Black Russian Label to discuss her looks and what went into preparing for this event. Joanna was most excited about participating in Phoenix Fashion Week again. As the 2009 Emerging Designer winner, this half Nigerian, half Russian designer held nothing back. This 2013 collection made use of contrasting grays and blacks as well as wearable designs with leather and lace trims. Joanna used cultural inspirations for all over the globe. Joanna says”A Black Russian woman likes to be seen and wants her clothes to make a statement every time she enters a room.” -Black Russian label, redefining the face of fashion.

I also chatted with Sam Mascaro and Clary Jeffrey behind Loin Cloth LA as they excited the runway. The dudes said they were stoked about the show turn out and would do the designer bootcamp again in a heart beat. Their “where struggle meets success” line featured laid back Cali looks with style. The brand motto ” a penny and a plan” refers to how the boys got started with -$143 in the bank and a dream. You can really see the passion in the looks the guys created. The pocket details and floral prints are a huge hit with the brands’ followers. I asked the guys what was next for these two, Clary answered ” we go back to the grind.” These two guys’ dedication and hard work truly show in their amazing Summer 2013 collection. Thank you. Sam and Clary for taking this risk, you guys are awesome.

Phoenix Fashion Week and Emerging Designers 2013

Jadapa and I attended the Emerging Designers Showcase held at Toni & Guy in Scottsdale, Arizona on June 14. And how lucky we were to see a Fashion Show of the up-and-coming designers that will be competing throughout the next few months for a spot in the Phoenix Fashion Week 2013!

The evening started off with drinks and mingling with the designers themselves followed by the Fashion Show, where each designer displayed one look in their upcoming line. We were blown away with the amount of talent we saw throughout the evening. All of the designers were amazing, but a few really stood out. Ja’ire International Couture, Trang Nguyen, Herbert Victoria, and Loin Cloth, a mens brand, were our chosen favorites. Each of our favorite designers brought forth their own creative pieces while staying true to their original message as a brand. After the designers presented, a brief Q&A session allowed the media to ask them questions about their style and about themselves.

All attendees made our way over to Spanish Fly Lounge Mexican Beach Club for the after party hosted by Phoenix Fashion Week. I am so excited to see what else the designers bring to the table in the next few weeks, and to see the winner in October at Phoenix Fashion Week!

Gangster Squad inspired outfit: Jeans- Michael Kors; Top- Target; Shoes- Express; Hat-ALDO; Bag- Zara; Accessories- (Not to) worry beads, Gucci vintage c/o Mom; Gun- Caracal F QS

Saw Gangster Squad (awesome movie, fyi) over the weekend and my Fedora came busting out of my closet! Fedoras add so much style to a simple outfit to give it a more put-together look. I paired it with short cut, cuffed jeans that are currently trending hard, and they provide a relaxed look.

Style these laid back jeans with some sky high or statement heals to glam up. Ballet flats in a striking shade to add a pop of color. Ankle booties are also a warm choice for chilly months.

Petite ladies beware: these jeans can cut off your legs and make you look super boxy. If you want to wear this look, make sure you are adding nude colored heels to lengthen your legs. Also, make sure the jeans you are cuffing are a short length when you buy them. That way, your cuffs are not too fat and you are rolling the same amount of pant leg as taller gals.

Happy weekend!
